Artistic opening — Ubuntu
'Ubuntu' is an African philosophy about the interconnectedness between all humans, and between humans and all of nature.
Johanna McBride's song 'Ubuntu' uses the common English translation of this idea:
'I am who I am because of you. We re who we are because of each other'
Our opening video features A Chorus of Women singing 'Ubuntu'  with musical direction by Johanna and visual images by artist Sally Blake.
Artistic presentation — Weaving connections between humans and nature
Sally discusses her visual arts practice which spans textiles, drawing and sculpture. Her work explores people’s relationship to, and place within the natural world. Visualisation of the natural laws and patterning that hold people in relationship with Earth, as well as the consequences of these unravelling is her focus.
The #everydayclimatecrisis Visual Petition
Throughout the day we will show photos from this project of Hilary Wardhaugh, Founder of Women Photographers Australia.
Watch the short video below from ABC TV News earlier this year to find out more about this inspiring project for women and nonbinary people.
